General Information

We encourage everyone to consider your transport methods to this event and travel sustainably where possible. Please consider using our shuttle and regional buses as sustainable transport options.

Please remember however you choose to travel to and from the event, as visitors to Herrington Country Park, we should all be respectful of the local residential areas as we pass through.

Pre-Booking Required

Car parks, shuttle services and regional coaches will all be available to pre-book when tickets go on sale. Timing schedules for shuttle services, car park locations and opening and closing times will be published at point of sale.

Getting to the Event

Transport Hubs

On the weekend of the event the quickest and easiest way to get to site will be via one of the three official transport hubs. All transport hubs will have shuttle services running direct to the event site providing stress free travel.

Transport Hub 1
Sunderland
Location: Park Lane Interchange — ///shall.locker.wiring
Transport: Metro / Drop Off then Shuttle Service to event site
Use the Park Lane Shuttle to access the metro stops in Sunderland, Local nightlife and accommodation. Event car parks located in the city centre will be available to purchase at a later date and will be accessed via the Park Lane Shuttle Services.
Transport Hub 2
Gateshead
Location: Heworth Metro Station — ///cloud.quit.lively
Transport: Metro / Drop Off then Shuttle Service to event site
Use the Heworth shuttle to access Newcastle, National Rail and other metro lines to Newcastle Airport, North Shields and South Shields.
Transport Hub 3
Durham
Location: Durham Park & Ride Belmont — ///comply.town.sped
Transport: Pre-booked parking then Shuttle Service to Event Site
Durham shuttle services will provide access to park-and-ride facilities to facilitate onward travel into Durham, either by taxi or on foot, if required.
Additional Durham Park & Ride Locations

Please note there will be a shuttle service from Durham Belmont to Durham Sniperley and Howlands Park and Ride facilities. The shuttle will travel from Herrington Country Park to Belmont with a second dedicated service for onward travel to Howlands and Sniperley.

Timings of shuttle services will be available at a later date. Shuttles to and from the venue will run for the duration of each event in tandem with the Metro timetable to ensure onward travel can be facilitated if required.

Tyne and Wear Metro

Recommended metro stations are Heworth and Park Lane which both have shuttle services to the event site and back after the event finishes. The current timetable for the Metro can be found at https://www.nexus.org.uk/metro. Please note that this timetable is subject to change and will be increased across the event weekend.

Regional Coaches

Regional coach return journeys will be available from 23 locations within the North East Combined Authority and the Tees Valley Combined Authority region. Specific locations will be published at a later date and pre-booking of these services will be required.

By Car — Parking

Accessible Parking

On-site parking will be offered to accessible customers only and must be pre-booked with a valid blue badge.

Car parking for all other customers is not available at Herrington Country Park however alternative parking locations will be available locally and must be pre-booked in advance. There will be no on-the-day parking sales. All car parks will either be within a one-hour walk of the event site or located close to designated transport hubs, where a shuttle service will operate.

Motorcycle parking will be permitted in all official event car parks.

Parking charges and booking information will be displayed shortly.

By Train (National Rail)

The closest National Rail station is Sunderland Central, a short walk from the Park Lane shuttle services; other stations available are Heworth, Newcastle and Durham.

Those who wish to use National Rail to Sunderland Central, and Heworth will be within walking distance of a shuttle service to the venue.

If you wish to arrive at Durham Railway Station please make your own way to Belmont Park and Ride to use the shuttle service. If you wish to travel to Newcastle Station please use the Metro to Heworth to access a shuttle to the Venue.

Travel Tips

Please use your preferred booking platform to purchase your train tickets. We strongly recommend booking in advance. Before you travel, please check for any rail disruptions or timetable changes and ensure you fully understand your route, including any required connections, replacement bus services and last operating departures.

Family and Friends Meet and Greet / Pick Up and Drop Off

Pick up and drop off will be available only for friends and family from within Herrington County Park. There will be a one way system in place with entry to the park located ///flap.loaf.soil and the exit located at ///successes.slows.powder

Taxi

Pick up and drop off via app-based taxi services or via Hackney Carriages will not be available from Herrington Country Park. Please do not attempt to be collected or dropped off in this location. Please use our transport hubs located at Heworth Metro Station, Park Lane Metro Station and Durham Belmont Park and ride and use our shuttle service to the park.

On Foot

Local residents and those staying locally to Herrington Country Park are welcome to follow the designated walking routes to the venue; these will be clearly signed.

North West (Via Penshaw/Shiney Row)
Walk east bound on Chester Road to the northern venue entrance.
South West (Via Philadelphia)
Walk east bound on Millers Hill to the South West Venue pedestrian entrance.
South East (Via East Herrington)
Walk west bound via Herrington Road to the South East Venue pedestrian entrance.
Safety Notice

Please do not attempt to cross the A19 via the A138 roundabout alternative routes are in place in the interest of public safety.

By Bike

Cyclists are welcome to cycle directly to the venue where bike parking will be available. Please do not attempt to use one of our shuttle services with a bicycle, please find secure cycle storage before embarking.
